One of my first projects while interning at the Mexic-Arte Museum was to create a shirt for their 40th anniversary. I scanned in archival artwork and played around with type and textures to create a vintage look.
Loteria 2024:
As a Visual Designer at Mexic-Arte Museum, I created a unique set of Loteria cards inspired by the vibrant street names and rivers of Downtown Austin. This project aimed to blend traditional Mexican Loteria with local cultural elements, offering a fresh perspective on both the game and the city's geography. Each card in the set features a meticulously designed illustration representing a specific street named after a river, highlighting the historical and cultural significance of these locations. The artwork combines traditional Loteria aesthetics with modern design techniques, ensuring both authenticity and contemporary appeal.
Through this project, I aimed to create an engaging, educational, and visually appealing experience for museum visitors. The Loteria cards serve as a fun game and a cultural artifact, showcasing the intersection of local history and art. By celebrating the rich heritage of Austin and its connection to Mexican culture, the project contributes to the museum's mission of promoting cultural understanding and appreciation.
